When you see photos from a God Starr adventure, you’ll probably notice the smiles first. Kids laughing with friends, trying something new, or enjoying an afternoon away from their everyday routines. Whether they’re playing Disc Golf, creating art, roller skating, or exploring a virtual world, these are the moments we love sharing.
But there’s another side to God Starr that you might not see as often.
Behind the adventures is a mission to support local kids and families in meaningful, everyday ways. Sometimes that means creating a wonderful childhood memory. Other times, it means making sure a child has something to eat.
And both matter.
Because Every Child Deserves More Than the Basics
We believe childhood should be filled with opportunities to laugh, play, explore, and make memories. But we also recognize that many families in our community are facing challenges that make everyday life difficult.
For some children, after-school programs provide much more than a place to spend the afternoon. They offer a welcoming environment, caring adults, friendships, activities, and sometimes an important source of food.
That’s why God Starr’s mission goes beyond planning fun experiences.
Along with our youth adventures and mentorship opportunities, we help provide food to local after-school programs and, when needed, directly to families.
It’s one more way we can show up for the kids in our community.
A Little Support Can Make a Big Difference
Sometimes making a difference doesn’t require a grand gesture.
It might look like delivering groceries to a family that needs a little extra help. It might mean providing snacks or food to an after-school program so the kids have something to enjoy during their afternoon.
These may seem like small things, but they can make a meaningful difference for families working hard to meet their everyday needs.
And while food support and fun adventures might seem like two very different things, we see them as part of the same mission.
Kids need nourishment, but they also need joy. They need stability, but they also need opportunities to explore. They need caring adults, friendships, laughter, and the freedom to simply be kids.
At God Starr, we want to support as many of those needs as we can.
It Takes a Community to Make It Happen
One of the most beautiful things about God Starr is that none of this happens alone.
Every adventure, food delivery, and opportunity we create is made possible through the generosity of people who care about local youth.
Our donors, business sponsors, volunteers, youth leaders, and community partners each play an important role. Some give financially, others donate their time, supplies, or resources. And some help simply by sharing our story and introducing God Starr to someone who wants to get involved.

As we head into the holiday season, we’re especially grateful for the people who continue to show up for our kids and families. Your kindness helps us do more than organize events. It helps us build a community where young people feel supported and valued.

God Starr serves girls and boys in Citrus Heights and surrounding Sacramento-area communities. As we continue growing our programs, we hope to create even more adventures, strengthen our mentorship opportunities, and expand the support we can offer local families.
