Kids Just Want to Have Fun: The Power of Positive Experiences

There’s a fundamental truth about childhood: having fun matters. Positive experiences, play, friendship, and opportunities to try new things all play an important role in a child’s emotional, social, and personal development.

Unfortunately, many children from disadvantaged backgrounds don’t always have access to the experiences that make childhood special—things like summer camps, creative activities, sports, adventures, and opportunities to simply have fun with friends.

At God Starr Ministries, we believe every child deserves those moments.

Our mission is to create opportunities for girls and boys who might not otherwise have access to them. Through summer camps, mentorship, outdoor adventures, creative activities, and community events, we give kids opportunities to connect, explore, try something new, and make memories together.

Positive experiences can help children:

  • Build confidence and social skills
  • Develop friendships and meaningful connections
  • Discover new interests and talents
  • Learn to try new things
  • Experience a sense of belonging
  • Create happy memories that can stay with them for years to come

At God Starr, we’ve seen the joy that comes from something as simple as picking flowers, creating art, roller skating, playing Frisbee Golf, going to summer camp, or trying something completely new.

These experiences may seem small, but to a child who doesn’t often get these opportunities, they can mean a lot.
